About Mynydd Du

Mynydd Du, also known as the Black Mountain, is the remote western section of the Brecon Beacons. The high plateau of Bannau Sir Gaer includes the striking glacial lakes of Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr.

The area is associated with the legend of the Physicians of Myddfai, a family of physicians descended from a fairy from Llyn y Fan Fach. The legend dates to the 12th century.
