Mountain Classifications
Munros
Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet (914.4 meters). Named after Sir Hugh Munro, who first cataloged them in 1891. There are 282 Munros in Scotland.
Corbetts
Scottish mountains between 2,500 and 3,000 feet (762-914 meters) with a drop of at least 500 feet on all sides. Named after John Rooke Corbett.
Marilyns
Mountains in the British Isles with a prominence of at least 150 meters (492 feet). The name is a pun on Munro, with the M representing "minimum" prominence.
